There are probably a billion ways and products to use to clean make up brushes and Beauty Blenders. But, if you’re on a budget or don’t have make up brush shampoo or Beauty Blender cleaner then here is a way for to do it.
First, I soak the brushes and Beauty Blender in some warm water with dish soap. This allows the brushes to soak in the clean water and make it easier to take off any make up that could be stuck onto the brushes. They soak for about 5 minutes.
To actually clean my brushes I use my every day face wash. Since my skin is acne prone, this is a good way to clean my brushes and not worry about breakouts. Dish soap is a good alternative if you don’t have a face wash or don’t want to use it.
Currently I’m using my favorite face wash which is Biore charcoal wash.
To Clean the Brushes:
I put one pump of my face wash or a dime to quarter size of dish soap in the palm of my hand. The amount of soap varies on the size of the brush. I take the brush and rub it into the soap in circular motions which make it all soapy. Most of the time you can see the make up coming off in your hand.
Once it’s all lathered up and theres no sign of make up coming off it, I rinse it in warm water until no more soap comes out. I even squeeze the bristles to make sure there is no more soap.
I squeeze out any excess water and then place the brushes into a cup of apple cider vinegar. This sanitizes the brushes and it’s also good for keeping skin clear, so it reduces breakouts. I let this soak for about 5 minutes and then rinse it out after.
Then, I lay the brushes on a towel and let them dry.
But, I’m impatient and can’t wait for them to dry. I blow dry them! Of course it’s important to make
sure the brushes will not be damaged by the blow dryer.
For the Beauty Blender:
I use my face wash for the Beauty Blender and pump it all over onto the blender. I rub the soap into the bender for a few minutes and squeeze it until no more make up and soap comes out.
It does take a little while to make sure all the soap comes out of the blender since it is a sponge.
Once all the soap is out of the blender, I put it in a cup of apple cider vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes.
I squeeze out the vinegar and then rinse it with water and let it sit to dry. I can’t blow dry it (cries) so I have to wait for it to dry.
No!! I dropped my eyeliner brush on the side of my sink! I can’t get it. It’s lost forever! I’m trying to think of a way to get it out.
